TextGrabber supports multiple modes of operation. The table below contains all of the hardware command codes currently supported. All of the command sequences are in standard ascii, therefore most standard terminal programs such as Hyperterm or Procomm can be used to configure TextGrabber and view the data stream. The commands are sent in the following format:

[Ctl]Control-A [ARG]Argument [CR] Carriage Return

TextGrabber will only respond to commands sent in upper case. Serial data sent to the unit suspends data capture until the command has been received, therefore when a command is sent it will momentarily suspend the capture cycle which may cause the unit to drop characters. Normal video mode will work well for most video applications. VCR mode should only be used if a failure occurs when attempting to decode data from copy protected (MacroVision) commercial tapes.
